Beyond the everyday stressors of life, Black women experience a unique form of exhaustion known as racial fatigue. This chronic stress stems from the constant exposure to racism, microaggressions, and the emotional labor of navigating a world that often devalues our experiences. Whether it's the subtle microaggressions in the workplace, the constant barrage of negative media portrayals, or the everyday anxieties of raising Black children in a society that often feels unsafe, the cumulative effect takes a significant toll. This constant pressure can manifest in physical health issues like high blood pressure, heart disease, and anxiety, as well as mental and emotional exhaustion.

For generations, Black women have been told to be "strong," to persevere through any hardship. While resilience is undoubtedly a strength, the myth of the "strong Black woman" can be incredibly damaging. It often discourages us from seeking help, acknowledging our pain, and prioritizing our own needs. We're told to "push through," even when we're running on empty. But pushing through indefinitely is unsustainable. It leads to burnout, resentment, and a depletion of our physical and emotional reserves.

Sis, we challenge you to make a commitment to yourself that the buck stops here! With so many competing commitments, the hardest thing to do...is nothing! You have nothing to prove. If running on empty has become your normal, it's time to redefine what strength looks like. It's time to prioritize your well-being. It's time to rest.
